WHAT IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Laser hair removal offers a gentle, long lasting solution to unwanted
body hair. Imagine not having to shave, tweeze or wax. Based on
technology used for nearly a decade, Laser hair removal causes
permanent hair reduction without damaging the epidermis, regardless of
skin type. It is the most comfortable and efficient method to remove
unwanted hair.
How does it work?
Laser hair removal systems gently
remove unwanted hair. Laser light energy creates heat as it passes
through the skin and targets darker colored pigment, melanin, found in
the follicle and hair. By heating up the hair follicle during its
active phase, the laser disables the follicle’s ability to produce hair
without affecting surrounding tissue. In clinical trails to date using
a number of different lasers and intense pulsed light hair removal
systems, some test sites remained hair-free for up to 2 years.
Is it Permanent?
Yes; Permanent Hair REDUCTION.
It is important to emphasize that there is no guarantee that laser hair
removal will be permanent, but will likely reduce the total number of
hairs growing back after treatment. In addition, the hair that does
grow back is often lighter and finer. The FDA has approved several
laser manufacturers to claim permanent hair reduction. The results tend
to be additive, i.e. more treatments lead to a greater degrees of
permanent hair reduction. Results vary based on patient, laser and
practitioner.
Advantages
Laser hair removal is a non-invasive
method of photoepilation, which does not require needles or messy
chemical creams. Since thousands of hairs can be zapped in a single
treatment session, large areas like the back, shoulders, arms and legs
can be effectively and efficiently treated.
Most consumers have experienced long-lasting hair removal or permanent hair reduction.
Very safe when performed properly. Make sure your treatment giver is a licensed and has experience with laser treatments.
Great for large areas such as backs or legs!
Regrowth can come back lighter in color or finer in texture.
Less expensive and less painful than electrolysis.
Preparing for Laser Hair Removal
Stay away from the sun two weeks prior to a hair laser removal session, since recently tanned skin will inhibit effectiveness.
If you are taking medication, check first with your skin care specialist prior to being treated.
The area to be treated must be shaved three days before the laser hair removal session.
